A few summers ago while on our way home we spotted a yard sale at the end of the street. I saw a few toys so I decided to stop by, you never know what kinds of bargains you can score. Jacob noticed a few trucks, one in particularly a talking truck, so for $1 I couldn’t resist. When we moved to Massachusetts the truck got donated, Little did I know that one truck was “Chuck The Truck” that the boys would fall in love with a couple years later.
The boys have a few Chuck the Truck DVDs that they love watching as well as a few of the smaller Tonka Chuck and Friends playsets, and most recently we were able to add a big Chuck the Truck back in their line of Tonka toys, the Tonka Chuck & Friends Tumblin’ Chuck Dump Truck.
Tumblin’ Chuck Dump Truck Features:
- 80 phrases and sounds
- Somersaults, Jumping Jacks, Push-ups, Sit-ups.
- Nap time mode – will automatically shut down if not being played with
- On/Off switch
When the orange light bar is pressed Chuck plays over 80 phrases and sounds, he’ll do somersaults, and even sit-ups, jumping jacks and push ups. It is fun watching the children interact with Chuck, especially Tyler who is learning how to count. Chuck will count while he does three somersaults and Tyler will join along and will count, one, two, three also. Chuck will also count while he does sit-ups, jumping-jacks & push-ups. In addition to the orange light bar that you can press, there is also a gray button on the bottom of Chuck that you can press to tickle him, Chuck will start laughing and the boys think it is hilarious.
While the boys know how to do jumping jacks they were excited for me to teach them how to do a push-up so they could join Chuck the Truck in his exercise routine. Not only does Chuck inspire imaginative play but he also encourages my children to do exercise, something I never imagined.
I have found that Tumblin’ Chuck works best on hard floors, either
wooden floors or linoleum. I have tried on a couple of carpets, even the
low carpet in the boys play room and Chuck will get stuck in the upside
down position when he is trying to do a somersault so the boys have to
bring him into the kitchen area to get him to work properly.
When play time is over or when Chuck the Truck is being ignored/not interacted with (he’ll ask you to press his light bar) he will go into nap-time mode and shut down. This not only stops unwanted noises but it also saves on batteries, and if you have children you know how many batteries you go through in a week. There is also an on and off switch on the bottom of the truck so you can make sure he wont turn back on if you want to store him in a toy box, shelf or even in a closet.
