The winters are anything but warm here in New England and with negative degree weather this past week we have been doing everything we can to try to stay warm. While most of the house stays the same temperature, the mudroom/gym area that connects the garage to the main house is constantly cold. It’s acts as a second refrigerator and is a great place to store waters and Gatorade drinks to get cold, but it’s not fun to try to get the kids or myself all bundled up or try to get in a quick workout. We were sent the NewAir AH-600 which is a big upgrade to our noisy space heater that I hate to use and am happy to report that we can now get our snow boots and gear on and off and workout without feeling like we’re outside.

The NewAir AH-600 is a low profile baseboard heater that heats areas up to 250 square feet. The small design is similar to a baseboard heater but the portability makes it more convenient, we can easily change it between different rooms if we need to or also bring it with us if we travel to the lake house where it is even colder.
The 1500 watt heater is capable of heating any small room or office. It features a manual temperature control and up to a 7.5 hour timer. Since we don’t need the heater running all night long, the timer is convenient in case I forget to turn it off, there’s no point in warming a room and raising the electricity bill when the room is not in use. I always use the 70°F setting when in use, so the heater will automatically use the power it needs to get up to the preferred temperature, when it reaches the preferred temp it will slow down to 750 watt to maintain that temperate and when it’s over by 2°F it will automatically stop heating. That way I won’t be heating the room to 80°F when I only want it 70°F. In addition to the 70 °F preferred temp, there is also a setting for 64°F and 75°F.
When we first turned on the NewAir AH-600 my husband was amazed at how quiet it was, we previously had a small space heater and it sounded like a fan and was constantly noisy. The NewAir AH-600 is ultra quiet, if it wasn’t for the light on and heat omitting, you wouldn’t know it was on. The NewAir AH-600 may let off a smell at first, but this is completely normal so make sure it’s in a well vented area when turned on for the first time. It just means that a small drop of oil fell on the heating coil during manufacturing, it quickly evaporates and should not re-occur.
The only feature I would have liked to have seen in the NewAir AH-600 is a small remote to turn on/off and control the temperatures. For individuals with back issues or that cannot bend down easily it can be hard to turn on/off and to change the temperatures since it is low and sits on the floor.
Buy It: The NewAir AH-600 retails for $80 and is available to purchase are retailers online including Amazon, Sears, Overstock, air-n-water.com, Northern Tool, and Wayfair.
