I participated in an Influencer Activation for State Farm Neighborhood Assist. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
As a mother, I do whatever I can to protect my children and to keep them safe, and some days I may be over cautious, but it’s only because I don’t want my children to get hurt. My siblings and I grew up in a safe neighborhood, we were able to walk down the street and hang out at a friend’s house from morning until nightfall. We were able to walk to the card shop, about a 1/2 mile away by ourselves, or to the park and my mother never thought twice about it. The only rule was, when that dinner bell rang or 8pm game along, you best be running in the back door shortly thereafter.
While I am blessed to be able to grow up in a safe community with a large park and library that my children still continue to go to today, many children do not. Some children go home to an empty house, they don’t have the opportunity to play ball at the local Boys & Girls club, or spend time on the swings, or making roads in the sandbox, some don’t even have access to meals.
These children are our future and they deserve to have a place to play, a place to call home, and food to eat. Which is why as a State Farm member, I’m proud to know that they have created the State Farm Youth Advisory Board to help address issues important and to help our local communities.
Help make a difference in your community with State Farm Neighborhood Assist.
State Farm Neighborhood Assist wants to help make a difference in our local communities by awarding 40 $25,000 grants to the causes that mean the most to us, maybe it’s to help build a local park, make sure no child goes hungry, or to help build a community greenhouse.
What is State Farm Neighborhood Assist?
Every year, State Farm donates millions of dollars to nonprofits across the United States, and in 2012, the State Farm Neighborhood Assist was founded to help distribute those funds. The State Farm Neighborhood Assist helps individuals identify problems in their community, and then connects them with local nonprofits who can help them build better communities and make a positive impact in their neighborhood.
Vote for your favorite cause and encourage your friends and family members to do the same.
You can vote for up to 10 causes per day through June 3, 2015.
