Make these Red, White and Blue patriotic Marshmallow Pops for the Fourth of July, Memorial Day or Labor Day.
We’ve been to a number of bake sales and theme parks, and one of my children’s favorite treats are marshmallow pops, especially the chocolate covered marshmallows.
Marshmallow pops are a fun dessert for the kids, and they’re easy to make. The ideas are endless and you can change the colors to fit with any holiday or birthday party theme. All you need is marshmallows, cookie sticks or paper straws that can be found at Walmart, Amazon or any craft store, candy melts or chocolate, and sprinkles.
Patriotic Marshmallow Pops:
For the 4th of July, I made these patriotic marshmallow pops using red, white, and blue candy melts and a piece of black licorice to look like a firecracker. I also made a batch of Firecracker Marshamallow Pops made with pop rocks that caused a big spark with the kids!
Make these chocolate covered marshmallow pops a party favor by placing them in a plastic treat bag.
How To Make Red, White & Blue Patriotic Marshmallow Pops:
What you’ll need:
Red, White, Blue candy melts
36 Regular Sized Marshmallows
Black licorice
Cookie sticks
Toothpick
Crisco shortening- to thin the candy melts
Directions:
Melt candy melts in a glass microwave safe bowl on 50% power for 30 seconds and then continue to microwave on 50% power in 15-second intervals until completely melted, stirring in between. If the chocolate is to thick, add a tsp of shortening to thin out.
Add three marshmallows to each straw.
Dip or use a spoon to spread the chocolate on each marshmallow.
Tap against the bowl to remove the excess chocolate.
Place on a prepared baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Once the chocolate hardens, stick a toothpick in the top to create a small hole. Add a thin piece of black licorice on the top for the fuse.
Another option would be to drizzle the marshmallow in melted red, white, and blue chocolates.
