For the past few months we have been teaching Jacob & Tyler the concept of money and how everything that we eat or have at home costs. So when I spotted them exchange imaginary money one day in their playroom to purchase their food I knew the New Sprouts Ring It Up Cash Register would be a great addition. Tyler was quite excited to have his own cash register, just like they have at stores with his own money.
New Sprouts Ring It Up Cash Register:
We had a few issues with money and buttons getting stuck with the first New Sprouts Ring It Up Cash Register we received but after speaking with Learning Resources we soon found out that the issues have been fixed and that we were accidentally sent an older model. Within a few days our new Ring It Up Cash Register arrived and all our problems were solved.
The New Sprouts Ring It Up Cash Register is geared more for the younger crowd, it is more of a basic register, but perfect for 2-4 year olds with no small coins or dollar bills to rip up. There are five easy to push numbered buttons, a fun coin slide and a pop-open cash drawer with 5 numbered coins in green, blue, orange, purple and yellow.
They boys loved their register from the start and use it numerous times a week to play shop and pay for their groceries and toys. I love watching them interact and ask each other how much something is, and then handing over the money, they are realizing that when you go to the store and get an apple or a juice, you have to pay money, that it’s not free.
Buy It: The Ring It Up Cash Register retails for $29.99 and is available online at Learning Resources and at Amazon.com.
