4th of July Marshmallow Pops
Make these 4th of July snacks into a party favor by placing them inside cellophane bags and adding a decorative twist tie. This dessert on a stick is also great for on the go if you’re heading to fireworks or a parade.
Red, White, and Blue Marshmallow Pops:
What you’ll need:
- White and red candy melts. Can be found at Walmart, Michael’s Craft Stores, and JoAnn Fabrics for about $3 a bag, as well as Amazon.
- Marshmallows
- Cookie sticks or paper straws
- Styrofoam (to hold sticks) or parchment paper
Simple Marshmallow Pops Recipe:
First you’ll need to melt the candy melts. Melt the white candy melts in a glass microwave safe bowl on 50% power for 30 seconds, stir. Continue to microwave on 50% power in 15-second intervals until completely melted, stirring in between. Repeat with additional colors. You can also use a double boiler on the stove. My go-to is using the microwave to melt the candy melts in a coffee mug.
Place the marshmallows on a stick – Add three marshmallows to each straw or lollipop stick. If you are having a hard time placing the marshmallow on the stick, you can a metal skewer or bamboo stick dipped in hot water to pre make the holes.
*To make this dessert for younger kids, use one marshmallow instead of three.
Dip and cover the marshmallows in chocolate: Dip or use a spoon to spread the melted chocolate on each marshmallow. These patriotic pops are dipped in white chocolate and drizzled with red candy melts.
The best part, add the pop rocks! Sprinkle with pop rocks before the chocolate melts. The blue pop rocks are a perfect fit for the 4th of July theme. We also tried the strawberry flavored pop rocks, but have more of a pink color to them. You can usually find Pop Rocks at Walmart, Amazon, and convenience stores, if not you can always decorate with red, white, and blue sprinkles.
Let harden: Place the marshmallow pops on a prepared baking sheet lined with parchment paper to allow to harden. You can also place the stick in a stryfoam block to allow the chocolate to harden. It only takes a few minutes for the candy to harden.
Make it look like a firework by adding a candy fuse. Finally, finish these cute 4th of July treats with a fuse.Use a toothpick to make a hole in the top marshmallow. Add a thin piece of black licorice for the fuse.
