As many of you know, there’s a special spot in my heart for the USO. A a military family, we have benefited from a number of their programs throughout the years. One particular program was during my husband’s last deployment in which he was able to record himself reading a book to my son, the DVD as well as the book were then mailed home to us. It was an heartwarming surprise that allowed my children to see their Dad on the DVD every morning and night as he read them a story and told them how much he missed and loved them. Deployments are never easy, whether it’s your first or your fifth. My husband missed out on first birthdays, milestones, and numerous holidays, but most of all his missed the comforts of being near his family and his home.
This fall, Marie Callender’s has launched the Comforts from Home Project to help bring the comforts of home to deployed U.S. military members. On specially marked packages of Marie Callender’s dinners and desserts you will find an eight digit code can be entered online.
For each code entered, $0.50 will be donated to the USO2GO program.
The USO2GO is a USO program that was designed to help to help boost the moral and bring the comforts of home to troops stationed all around the world. Each kit is filled with games, electronics, sports gear, books, and furnishings. Many troops are currently serving in remote areas, and these kits can help transform these places.

Does that look like it just came out of the microwave?
We often have a few frozen meals in the freezer that are convenient for busy days/nights including Marie Callender’s Sweet & Sour Chicken. The Sweet & Sour Chicken served with vegetables and rice is one of my go-to frozen meals. In just a few minutes I can have a warm meal served, and it doesn’t look, or more importantly taste like it just came out of the microwave, the broccoli and carrots have a crisp and tastes like I just got finished steaming it on the stove, and the chicken is moist. I can always count on Marie Callender’s Sweet & Sour Chicken for a quick and easy dinner solution not only for myself but for my children.
