While I enjoy cooking and baking, I’m not a big fan of the clean-up. Thankfully now we have a dishwasher which makes clean up much easier but having to still rinse all of the dishes can be tiresome and time consuming. I grew up in a household where you had to rinse all of the food off of the pots, pans, and plates before putting them into the dishwasher for fear that they wouldn’t come out clean. It’s how I grew up, so it’s something I just automatically do even thought my husband always said to put them in dirty. This past week a few friends and I put the cleaning power of Cascade Platinum to the test and I was amazed at how clean they came out when placed in the dishwasher covered with food.
I made a batch of brownies the night before our gathering, and while everyone was over we cooked up a batch of mac & cheese. Once we were done the real fun came when we all got to skip the pre-washing and put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Two thumbs up for convenience! I placed the cheese covered pot and plates along with the brownie pan that had been sitting on the counter from the night before into the dishwasher with Cascade Platinum pac and Cascade Platinum Rinse Aid. After running a full cycle I surprised to open the dishwasher and see the pan and dishes completely clean.
Cascade Platinum works best when the pre-washing is skipped as the special enzymes latch onto the food to break it down. Most people like myself think that the food will harm the dishwasher and pipes, but I learned that most dishwashers have a build in garbage disposal. Simply toss away the large pieces of food and place the dishes right inside the dishwasher, even a pan that’s been sitting on the counter for the past 24 hours!
Tips for loading your dishwasher:
- Stack dishes high and low, but make sure the bulky items don’t block the sprayer.
- Place glassware and fragile items in the top rack, away from the powerful bottom sprayer.
- Place glassware between the tines on the top rack, not over them as wet contact points can cause spots.
- Thread long utensils/spatulas through coffee-mug handles to keep them secure during washing.
- Make sure there are no stray utensils to block the nozzle or sprayer.
- Place big dishes on the bottom rack, face down so that the water reaches all the nooks and crannies.
