Bruegger’s is my go-to place when I’m craving a bagel or breakfast sandwich and their lunch sandwiches are also pretty amazing. They are always coming out with new seasonal items and this past week I had the opportunity to try out two of Bruegger’s new summer menu offerings., the Sriracha Egg Sandwich and the Morning Glory bagel. Bruegger’s sent us a few gift cards so instead of keeping them all to myself I decided to bring my whole family out to breakfast.
I wouldn’t call myself a huge fan of spicy foods, but I do enjoy the occasional kick to my meal as long as it is not too spicy so I was anxious to try out the Sriracha Egg Sandwich. The Sriracha Egg Sandwich is made with egg, sausage, cheddar cheese, fresh red peppers, and a touch of Sriracha sauce (sweet, hot chili sauce). It can be made with a plain bagel or one of Bruegger’s 15 + varieties of New York-style bagels. If your not a fan of spicy foods or don’t have a good tolerance I do not recommend this menu offering, as it was quite spicy. I was okay with a few bites but after that it just became too spicy, if given the chance next time I would ask them to be extra light on the sauce, as I do enjoy a little sweet & tangy kick. My husband on the other hand didn’t think it was spicy but he is a big fan of spicy foods. So if you have a kick for spicy foods, the Sriracha Egg Sandwich is definitely for you.
Sriracha Egg Sandwich, Coconut Iced Coffee & Morning Glory Bagel
The Morning Glory Bagel on the other hand was delicious, and was already half eaten by my husband and sons before I even sat at the table (I was too busy putting sugar/cream in my iced coconut coffee – another new offering). The Morning Glory Bagel is made with apple butter, shredded carrots, raisins, sunflower seeds and cinnamon. It’s great for breakfast or even an afternoon treat, plain, toasted, or with cream cheese it was a big hit with my family.
In addition to the Sriracha Egg Sandwich and Morning Glory Bagel, Chef Smith, Bruegger’s Executive Chef, has also created two new salads. I had the pleasure of meeting Chef Smith a few months ago at the 30th Anniversary Event, and I’m always anxious to see what new creations he has made.
- The Blue Apple Salad made with spring lettuce, chicken, dried cranberries, slices almonds, diced apples and topped with blue cheese crumbles and Champagne Vinaigrette dressing.
- Chicken Almond Salad tossed with diced chicken, almonds, cucumber, Asiago cheese, chopped red bell pepper topped and topped with a new Tangy Olive Oil dressing made with olive oil, feta cheese and red wine.
We visited Bruegger’s around breakfast time so I didn’t try their new salads, but I can’t wait to give the Blue Apple Salad a try this week, Tyler and I are planning to stop by for an early lunch date together before we head to the park.
The limited-time offerings are available through Sept. 10.
