Three years ago I finally broke down and donated all of our baby gear.
It had been years since the strollers, playard and toys had been used but I just couldn’t bring myself to get rid of them. Maybe it was because I was longing for another child, and had hoped that we would once again be using that stroller. I thought about saving them for just one more year and went back and forth with the idea numerous times. We were packing up our house for the big move and it was finally time to let them go, the baby gear was just collecting dust in the shed, the moving truck was packed full and it was one more thing that we didn’t need to bring along.
Little did I know that just over a year later we would receive news that we were expecting once again. With the news that we were expecting came a list of things that we would be needing for our baby boy including baby gear- a stroller, car seats, swing, crib, and of course diapers.
So much had changed in the 7 years since my last pregnancy, not just with baby gear, but trends as well. We threw a gender reveal party which was quite a hit with our friends and family, no one knew what we were having until we sliced into a cake. I had the ultrasound tech write the gender in an envelope which was delivered straight to the baker. It was such a fun evening surrounded by our friends and family, Jonathan and Trevor had the honor of slicing into the cake to see if it was a baby brother or a baby sister.
Baby Sprinkles also seem to be the newest trend to celebrate a second or later child. They are not as big as baby showers and often involve immediate family members and close friends “sprinkling” mom & baby with smaller gifts like an outfit or diapers. Since it was 7 years since our last baby our friends wanted to help shower our new little guy. Since he arrived a few weeks early on his “Baby Sprinkle” a number of our friends and family visited us at the hospital and sprinkled him with new outfits, bath essentials, wipes, and of course diapers.
Baby Sprinkle Gift Ideas:

- Diapers – We went through newborn and size one quickly. I recommend on gifting size 2’s or 3’s. Size 3’s were the most used for all three of my children.
