With the boys off to school full time this year, morning time has become “me” time. For the past eight years I have always had one child home with me, so it took a little bit to get used to the quietness. While I still do miss having one of them home with me, I have certainly been enjoying the quiet “me” time, well that is until our third little guy joins us in July! Once the kids get on the bus, I’m able to sit down and relax for 20-30 minutes and enjoy my coffee and a magazine or DIY show before I get started with household chores and work. Some weeks I’ll even splurge and head to the nail salon with an iced coffee in my hand for a relaxing pedicure. For the past few years I got so caught up with taking care of the kids, running around to their sports activities and playgroups, taking care of the finances, and the house that I never took time for myself and always felt exhausted. I always insisted on having one of them with me when I went to the grocery store, even if my husband was home to watch them. I had a hard time with just being me, I had to have one of the kids by my side. Now that I realize what taking just a few minutes to myself daily has done for my stress level and body, I wish that I would have done it sooner. Just those 10, 20, 30 minutes a day makes a world of a difference. Coffee is and has been my go-to beverage in the morning for many years, some days I like it hot, some days I like it cold, but it always has to be made with cream and sugar. Flavored cream, typically French vanilla or chocolate chip cookie always hits the spot, I’ll never understand how my husband can drink his black. Folgers has been my husbands go-to brand when it comes to making coffee at home, it’s the only brand he will buy, and he always complains if it is anything else. We both need our morning coffee, and if you’ve ever run out, you know how much it can ruin your day, which is why I make sure to always keep Folgers instant coffee in our pantry. The Instant coffee is also great for on the go when I don’t have access to a coffee pot, I can premeasure the coffee, and mix it with hot water for an instant hot coffee.
Served hot.
Served cold.
…and pairs well with a fresh blueberry muffin.
I tend to make a simple ice coffee but with summer right around the corner, I’m looking forward to trying some of these ice coffee Folgers Recipes. Take time out of each day to do something for yourself, even if its only 5 or 10 minutes to enjoy a cup of coffee.
