Every year the kids get their flu shots during their yearly check-ups or during their doctor’s flu clinic, but my doctors office is a bit farther and I rarely go there. Although I make sure to always stay up to date with the children’s vaccines, there have been a couple years that I slacked on my own flu shot. Being able to go to my local Walgreens which is only a block away is more convenient.
Did you know that Walgreens has you covered for all of the immunizations you need including the flu vaccine, hepatitis b and travel immunizations? I knew last year that they offered flu shots but I didn’t know they offered a variety of vaccines. You don’t need an appointment and can walk right in anytime the pharmacy is open, most insurances are accepted. While I was waiting in line at the pharmacy counter yesterday, a customer walked in and needed a flu shot, within minutes she was already on her way out, fully vaccinated. Talk about easy and convenient.
By keeping my immunizations up to date, I am able to enjoy more time with my family. I can remember the last time I had the flu and was in bed for over a week. Simple things that I took for granted like prepping dinner was almost impossible. I was miserable, had many sleepless nights and couldn’t wait to feel well again.
Our days are busy filled with school and sports and these two little boys depend on me to be able help with their homework, bring them to practice, and coach them on the soccer fields so it’s important to stay up to date with my adult immunizations, especially the flu shot. Having suffered from asthma my whole life, a common cold is harder to get over and lingers around for at least a week instead of a couple days, having the flu would sure put a damper on our days, and simple things like walking to the bus stop would no longer be simple.
Are you up to date on your immunizations? Have you gotten the flu shot this year?
By getting shot at Walgreens, you are giving a child a shot at being able to play sports and the ability to one day have a family of their own.
What would you give a child a shot at?
