Through the years I have found myself shopping more and more online on Black Friday. I used to spend the day shopping in-store, but the last two years I have found that almost everything I wanted to purchase was online as well. Living in the north, the weather is often below freezing, I’m always cold in the first place so shopping from the comfort of my home is more enjoyable. I don’t have to deal with all of the traffic, crowded parking lots and aisles. Plus, my husband often works so I have to find someone to watch the children or bring them with me. Last year I stopped by a few stores with them and they were completely oblivious to the gifts hidden in the cart under the coats, but this year I’m sure my son would notice the cart empty one moment, and full the next, with coats piled on top.
5 Tips for Black Friday Shopping:
- Plan Ahead: View the ads early, make a list and plan where you want to purchase specific products. It’s good to have a few options as stores can sell out fast.
- Dress Appropriately: If you plan to shop in-store make sure to pack extra warm clothes, especially if you live in the north and a few snacks/drinks as it may be a long day.
- Use coupons! Most stores allow you to combine coupons with their Black Friday deals for additional savings.
- Depending on the store, either ditch the stroller or bring it along. In many store the shopping carts will be hard to come by. Pack a stroller in the trunk is space allows.
- If shopping online, subscribe to deal sites to get up to date notifications when the deals start, many stores will release Black Friday prices a little early.
