Drawn Together is a heartwarming story where a young boy and his grandfather learn to overcome their language barrier through art. Disney Hyperion sent me a copy to share with my children and is also partnering together for a giveaway.
Growing up, I was very close to my grandparents and saw them quite often, on birthdays and holidays, and almost daily during the summer. My grandfather is a talker and can spend hours and hours talking about his childhood. There is no short visit to his house, even my quick stops last at least a half an hour. He could talk for hours and hours and I’m blessed that we are able to share that bond. For many, including some of our friends there are language barriers between their children and grandparents.
This moving picture book features a grandson and grandfather learning to connect. Although they do not speak the same language, they both have the gift of art and are able to draw pictures to connect with one another.

About the Author
Minh Lê is a writer but, like his grandfather, is a man of few words. He is a national early childhood policy expert, author of Let Me Finish! (illustrated by Isabel Roxas), and has written for the New York Times, the Horn Book, and the Huffington Post. A first-generation Vietnamese-American, he went to Dartmouth College and has a master’s in education from Harvard University. Outside of spending time with his beautiful wife and sons in their home near Washington, DC, Minh’s favorite place to be is in the middle of a good book. Minh Lê’s debut, Let Me Finish!, received critical acclaim, and this new picture book once again demonstrates his sensitivity to readers and mastery of the form.
