During the back-to-school season, it’s all about finding a balance and getting back into a routine. It’s goodbye to the laid back mornings of summer, and hello to the crazy hectic morning and afterschool routines. Between getting ready for work, getting the kids ready for school, taking care of the dogs, and now caring for a newborn, this school season is going to the busiest one we’ve had yet.
How To Balance Your Family’s Life During the Busy Back-To-School Season:
With just over two weeks to go to the start of the new school year, I have slowly been getting our family back into a routine. The kids have started going to bed at an earlier time and starting in a few days, I will start setting their alarms and have them up earlier. Bedtime has been a struggle as they are used to staying up late, but I’m hoping with two weeks to go, they’ll get used to going to bed at an earlier time and getting up earlier.
One other way that I save time in the morning is by prepping the children’s school lunches ahead of time. I use reusable containers and on Sunday night I prep Monday through Thursday’s lunches, they buy hot lunch on Fridays. Some days they get simple meals, but I try to make at least a few fun lunches every week. Most of the meals the kids do not see until they open up their lunch at school, I love when they get home from school and tell me how awesome their lunch was or how they loved the “food on a stick.”
Fun lunch ideas:
- Sandwich kabobs
- Fruit kabobs
- Make your own sandwich
- Sandwiches cut into fun shapes using cookie cutters
When it comes to packing the kids’ lunches I strive to choose nutritious choices and wholesome snacks that add fun to their lunches. Choices that I can feel good about and that my children will enjoy. With Nature’s Harvest® Bread and Little Bites™ Snacks, I can find that balance.
Nature’s Harvest® whole grain breads are baked with at least 8 grams of whole grains per serving, and without high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors or colors.
