I often hear jealous remarks when I get asked what I do for a living, “I work from home.” Being able to stay at home with the kids, and work from home while setting my own hours seems ideal, but I often wish that I had an office to escape go to. A place where the dogs aren’t scratching at my leg to go outside every 30 minutes, where kids aren’t bickering over toys or acting like they haven’t eaten in months. I constantly put my work off to get the floors vacuumed, dished clean, laundry done and dinner made, then I’m left staying up late & exhausted to get my work done.
It’s easy to get overwhelmed, so when I’m feeling frustrated I try to sit down and recharge. Some days it may just be sitting on the couch reading a magazine for 20 minutes, hoping in the bath for some quiet time, or arriving at my eldest’s school 10 minutes early, and just sitting there, in the peace in quiet with a cool and refreshing sweet tea.
Besides iced coffee, ice tea has been my go-to drink for many years, but it has to be sweet. I blame my sweet iced tea obsession on my southern roommates when I lived in Virginia Beach. While I have always enjoyed my ice tea with a hint of sweetness, after sipping on their sweet tea I soon became hooked. It can’t be warm, or even room temperature, it has to be cool and crisp.
Some days it is a battle between who gets the good leftovers or drinks in the fridge first, but I don’t have to worry about my husband stealing all of my Sweet Tea, he prefers the unsweetened.
