When you trade in your old phone you can get up to $200 back at Best Buy Mobile specialty stores.
We have previously traded in old video games for gift cards at Best Buy but I had no idea that they had a trade in program for cell phones as well at their Mobile Specialty Stores, did you? Whether you’re looking at upgrading your phone for a new one or have an unused smartphone in your drawer head on over to your local Best Buy Mobile to trade it in for a Best Buy gift card.
Walk in with an unwanted phone, receive a Best Buy Gift Card in exchange, walk out with a new phone…and possibly for FREE!
The Best Buy Mobile specialty stores are located in malls as well as at neighborhood shopping centers. They carry the newest smartphones and tablets from Sprint, AT&T and Verizon. Unlike some mobile stores, the staff is non-commissioned so they won’t pressure you into purchasing the most expensive phone or tablet. They’ll help you pick out the best smartphone or tablet that suits your needs as well as accessories. I was overwhelmed with all of the new phones but the staff easily narrowed the selection down as well as gave me the pros and cons, as well as what smartphone they personally recommended. When you purchase a new phone they will also set up and activate your new phone or tablet as well as transfer your contacts and data, which saves a lot of time if you don’t already have a backup program on your phone. I can remember having to write down all of my contacts and add them into my new phone that last time I purchased a new smartphone.
You will need to bring in your old cell phone to the store/kiosk and make sure to bring all of the accessories, including the charger so you can get the maximum value back. They cannot give a trade in value unless they are able to inspect the phone first hand, you will have to take the cover off (the staff can do it for you) as well as the screen protector, if there is one. Our iPhone 4S was a $150 Gift Card for trade in, but if there were any deeper scratches on the screen, the staff said that it would have been a little less than half that. If you are trading in an iPhone you do not need to bring back the headphones that were included, they do not want them back.
One of my concerns about upgrading was losing the unlimited data that I had for $29.99, I was grandfathered in for my last phone since I previously had a Blackberry but if I upgraded I would lose the unlimited data and it would go down to 2G. The store associate was able to look through my account and surprisingly I had never gone close to 2G in my 2 years of having the service, which completely surprised me since I’m always on the Internet on my phone. She says unless I always use YouTube or Pandora I wouldn’t go over, and I never use either on my phone unless I’m in a WiFi area. I had her double-check the data just to make sure and I hadn’t been even close to 1G in the past three months. All this stressing about loosing unlimited data if I upgraded and I had never even come close to the 2G.
